Nearly every time I say, "Everyone is born with a Creative Spirit." Some one says—no, many people say...ooops, that is LOTS of folks say, "I'm not creative: I can't even draw a straight line."
HUH?!Have you ever been to an artists supply store? GO. Notice that they feature entire walls of, wait for it, rulers, triangles, and t-squares. All are devices to assist actively creative people with the task of drawing straight lines.
Next folks tell me, "I can't even draw stick figures."
HUH?!2
I CAN draw stick figures and have never found work in that field. It doesn't exist—except on a bus ride to and from Summer camp whilst playing Hangman. NO ONE ever lost at Hangman because their stick figure (and noose) were drawn badly. Stick figure drawing is a test for nothing.
Yesterday my email IN BOX exploded with color, courtesy of my old chum John Drury, from our years together at Disney Imagineering. John designed most of the effulgent attraction marquees and 3-D signage at Disney Studios Florida (and EPCOT and ...) He is a real artist of verve and whimsy. He sent a "Checking in" note with his take on a favorite Danny Kaye quote (click to enlarge) and I asked his permission to share it with Tea Nation.
Notice that my friend John can't draw a straight line! Sad.
There may yet be hope for the rest you.
Grab some paint and start throwing!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
A straight line is SO vanilla. Crooked lines are the Spumoni of the art world.

"NO ONE ever lost at Hangman because their stick figure (and noose) were drawn badly." So very true! And I love the art work! Thanks for sharing!
