"An artist is not a special kind of human,
but every human is a special kind of artist"
~ Eric Gill (1882-1940)*
To which I commented:
Only we human's make art. It is one of the chief reflections of our Creator spirit. You cannot get from the primordial amoeba to Mozart without divine intervention. The development of great art makes no sense in the evolutionary chain of survival. It is unnecessary. There are no "ape etudes", orangutan tangos, simian sonata. In all universes of the Creator's great handiwork, humankind is his masterpiece. So, why do so few of us follow our Father's example? And why does the church work so hard at discouraging artistic expression? It's getting better, but we still have much to do. Keep dancing.

Well known for his deep Christian convictions, essays on faith, type design, and erotic art. He was associated with the "arts and crafts" movement (one of my favorites) often using type as a key element in his art. Many great examples on the website, Eric Gill.com. One of the most elegant, eloquent posts my wall has ever had the privilege of receiving. You are one of the few who even knew who Gill is. Thx! for gracing my life with you creative spirit.
