. . . that you don't need to read.
Having just culled through my personal library and reduced it by 30%, I am fascinated by putting old box to good use. (I did not through any of them away.) I delivered them to a great little used everything shop near me that takes it all—books, videos, DVD's. CD's, and LP's
On my last visit I discovered they are taking in vintage clothing. The entrance to their dressing room is a full sized, walk-in phone booth with the phone and back wall removed.
When I purchase used books I always look for copies that have notes from previous readers. Other readers with this in mind will find my thoughts in many of the pages I have just relinquished to The Blue Rectangle in Alameda, CA. (They have an old, free-standing, balck-and-white television console in the front window. They play old TV shows from the 50's and 60's. They also project old films on the sidewalk in front of the store.
And then there's this—altenative use for old books. The photo is from www.OffBeatEarth.com that has a wonderful collection of remarkable art made from old books. HEre is just one of the several images you will find and be inspired there.

I am thinking of having a party where everyone brings a few old books, videos, DVD's, LP's, or CD's to exchange with others—three items, gift wrapped together, in any combination. I will ask them to include a short, Post-It sized note with each item telling why they like it.
